Manchester City striker Erling Haaland went viral on social media after eagle-eyed fans spotted his hilarious exchange with Everton defender Ben Godfrey.

City were held to a 1-1 draw against Everton at the Etihad on Saturday, with Pep Guardiola’s men dropping valuable points in the Premier League title race.

Haaland, who is leading the race for the Premier League Golden Boot, carried on his scintillating goalscoring form post-World Cup by firing City into a first-half lead.

However, Demarai Gray rescued a crucial point for relegation-threatened Everton after scoring a stunning all-important equaliser at the Etihad.

Haaland was fortunate to remain on the pitch after his wild challenge on Everton defender Vitalii Mykolenko went unpunished by referee Andrew Madley.

The 22-year-old in-form City striker left fans in stitches when footage of him brutally mocking Godfrey made the rounds on social media.

Haaland could be spotted pulling a funny face and appearing to exchange words with Godfrey, with the pair also pushing one another.

One fan posted in response to the footage: “Why does he look like he’s mimicking a teacher?”

Someone else added: “When my man put up the air quotes, this became advanced savagery.”

While a third Twitter user wrote: “This has cheered me right up.”

“Absolutely brilliant by Godfrey,” a fourth fan argued.

And a fifth said: “This bloke lost his head yesterday and I love it.”

City are now seven points behind Arsenal in the title race after the Gunners’ comfortable 4-2 win over Brighton at the Amex on Saturday.

Speaking after City’s draw, Guardiola admitted that he was unhappy with the full-time result and felt his side “did everything” to win.

“They made a fantastic goal with the first shot on target they had, so we played a real, real good game,” he told Sky Sports.

“Of course, the result was not expected but that is football, it is not the first time it happened. We did everything to win. They played really well.

“Afterwards they broke a bit [of] the rhythm because the referees were not ready but, in general, we did everything and unfortunately could not win.”
