Erik Ten Hag Dropped Manchester United Player For Breaking Rule Twice

Erik Ten Hag Dropped Manchester United Player For Breaking Rule Twice

Ten Hag has implemented a strict set of rules on his players and staff.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag dropped a player for twice breaking one of his new rules, it has been claimed.

Ten Hag has implemented a strict set of rules for his squad since arriving at Old Trafford, including a policy that states players will be dropped from the XI or squad should they be late to training or team meetings.

The 52-year-old has already proved he is serious about his no tolerance approach to those that break his rules.

According to The Athletic, Ten Hag has already dropped a player from one of his starting line-ups in pre-season after they twice turned up late to a team meeting.

Ten Hag had been planning to use the player in a match during their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia but dropped him as punishment and to remind others of the importance of punctuality.

Players and staff who are guilty of tardiness will also receive fines as Ten Hag looks to raise standards at the club.

The former Ajax manager is known for his strict discipline and his new rules have been well received by the squad, according to midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

He said: "I think we missed that for a while and I think the way I see discipline is important.

"For me, discipline is not only the way you play on the pitch, the position that you have, what you have to do, it's also off the pitch.

"Don't be late for the meetings, don't be late for the meals.

"I think that's really important because if everyone is on time and someone comes late, he should be punished.

"I think it's really good that he [Ten Hag] is doing that and, for me, amazing because I like to be on time so I won't have problems with that."

Ten Hag's methods appears to have had an impact, with United unbeaten in pre-season after three wins and one draw.

The Red Devils next face Atletico Madrid in Oslo, Norway on Saturday before playing their final warm-up match against Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford a day later on Sunday.

United will then open their Premier League campaign against Brighton on August 7.
