Manchester United fans cheer Erik ten Hag as he twirls anti-Glazer scarf

Man Utd fans were protesting against their owners before kick-off and they continued after beating Aston Villa too.

Manchester United fans were loving life, as they took Erik ten Hag's actions as agreeing with their anti-Glazer stance, with protests taking place on Sunday.

United were in a huge clash with Aston Villa, knowing a win over Unai Emery's side would go a long way to cementing their place in the top four.

With the Carabao Cup secured this season already and a FA Cup final to come, along with the likely top four finish, fans continued to only protest against their owners when things are going badly.

With the Glazer family stretching out the potential sale of the club, to the point it could negatively affect plans for the next campaign, fans took to the streets of Manchester ahead of the game.

Even once the 1-0 win had been secured, further plummeting them into the depths fans need to go in order to protest, they continued to sing anti-Glazer songs.

When Ten Hag left the pitch, following the win, a yellow and green scarf was thrown in front of him, he picked it up, twirled it around and threw it back, as can be seen in the video below.

"This might be the most significant picture of any United manager ever," one fan dramatically stated.

"For the first time I see a United manager giving away signs of being against the owners," a second added, along similar lines as the first.

A third joked, "He's not here to take part, he's here to takeover," although it's unlikely the former Ajax boss has a spare £6 billion.

"He just gets it doesn’t he," claimed another supporter.

"This is such a f***ing underrated movement," replied a fifth.

And a sixth affectionately posted, "I love this bald man so much! Green and Gold until our club is sold!"

It was the first game since Friday's deadline for third bids from both Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the two likeliest buyers of the Old Trafford club.

Ten Hag's side were looking to bounce back after letting a two goal lead against Tottenham Hotspur slip on Thursday night, and Bruno Fernandes put them ahead after 39 minutes.

Jadon Sancho certainly would have been happy the attacking midfielder managed to shut up for a moment in order to put the ball in the net, after telling the captain to 'stop moaning' during the first half.

They managed to see out the 1-0 win, to go nine points clear of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth place, with just six games left of their season.
