Erik ten Hag has called on FIVE Manchester United players to help Marcus Rashford score goals, but left out Wout Weghorst.

Rashford is enjoying a prolific campaign this season, having scored 27 goals in all competitions - including 14 goals in the Premier League.

But Ten Hag is hoping his other star players can ease the burden on the England forward ahead of potentially snapping up a new No.9 in the summer.

He's singled out five Man United players who have the capabilities to score goals, though he failed to mention Weghorst, who was snapped up during the January transfer window.

Speaking ahead of his side's trip to Newcastle United on Sunday, the Dutch boss said: "I think we have players like Bruno [Fernandes], like Jadon Sancho, like Anthony Martial, like Scott McTominay, like Antony dos Santos, we have enough players with the capabilities to score goals, definitely.

"What I said previously, I work in the back on next season [for transfers] but we're working now on this season, so first of all make sure everyone is available and keep improving the way of play and that's the best chance of scoring more goals."

Weghorst has only scored two goals since arriving at Old Trafford and has hit back at criticism over his form.

He could feature when his side resume their league campaign at St. James' Park and Ten Hag will be hoping Rashford is fit, having missed international duty.

On Rashford's fitness, the Red Devils boss added: "I've good hope.

"He trained but he had to do some treatment, he had to do some individual training. Today he joined in with the group. We have one more day. I have a good hope he will be available.

"I think it's positive that he was in a break. I think with Bruno, he was playing the most games of the whole squad."
