Erik ten Hag forced his Manchester United squad to sit in silence and listen to Liverpool's players celebrate their gigantic 7-0 win, according to stunning reports.

Man United capitulated in the second-half as they conceded a staggering six goals after going in at half-time one-nil down on Sunday.

Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino all got on the score-sheet as they recorded their biggest win over their arch rivals.

And Ten Hag made his humiliated players sit in silence in the dressing room and listen to Liverpool's celebrations from the home dressing room and the fans inside Anfield.

That's according to The Mirror, who claim he told them to use it as motivation to ensure they never implode like that again.

Man United stars including Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Raphael Varane and Bruno Fernandes, who was called out by Gary Neville and Roy Keane during and after the match, had to suffer the indignity of hearing the jubilant scenes from the Liverpool dressing room.

Speaking after the embarrassing defeat to Liverpool, the Dutch boss told reporters: "Second half it was not us. It was not our standards. We didn't play as a team."

Asked if he was angry with his team's second-half showing, he replied: "Yes, definitely, and surprised because I have seen the last weeks and months a team that is resilient and determined with a winning attitude.

"We didn't stick to the plan, we lose our heads. We didn't do our jobs. We didn't track back and it was really unprofessional."

The Red Devils remain in third place in the table after their crushing defeat to Liverpool, but their goal difference has taken a battering.

Ten Hag will be hoping for a response when his side resume their Europa League campaign on Thursday against Real Betis, before hosting Southampton in the league on Sunday.
