‘Making Too Many Mistakes’, Erik Ten Hag Is Laying Down The Law At Manchester United

‘Making Too Many Mistakes’, Erik Ten Hag Is Laying Down The Law At Manchester United

The Dutchman has started working with his team ahead of the new season.

Erik ten Hag is working his Manchester United players harder than ever as he looks to get his ideas across.

United returned to pre season training last Monday as the club prepare ahead of their tour of Thailand and Australia. With games against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa on the horizon.

All eyes will be firmly fixed on Ten Hag’s every move as he looks to implement into his new team, a passing style of play that made his Ajax team one of the standout performers in European football.

His style of play will demand a lot from the players, and it looks like he is putting them through the paces already at the club’s training ground.

A video has emerged showing Ten Hag putting the team through a passing drill, during the exercise, Ten Hag and his coaching staff were often heard shouting ‘right foot, left foot’ after each pass and he also said to his players that they are ‘making too many mistakes’.

Comparison has already been made to Ten Hag’s Ajax side, as another video shows the Dutch side doing the exact same drill but with much finer precision and fluidity.

Ten Hag is trying to bring what made him successful in Amsterdam across to Manchester. But it will take time for the players to get accustomed to the new regime.

In a bid to speed up the process, Ten Hag is targeting a few of the players which he coached during his time as Ajax boss.

He is interested in bringing in centre back Lisandro Martinez and winger Antony from his former side.

Having already brought in Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord, the club are edging closer to more deals. Free agent Christian Eriksen has verbally agreed a deal to join the club.

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is seen as an important target as the manager sees him as the focal point of his plans at the Old Trafford club. Ten Hag coached De Jong when the pair spent time together at Ajax.

However, there are doubts over the future of star man Cristiano Ronaldo after the club legend told United of his desire for a move away from Old Trafford. Ronaldo has one year left on his current deal.

The message from United remains unchanged, they are adamant that the Portuguese international is ‘not for sale’ and they expect him to be with the club for the new season.

Ronaldo has missed two days of training in a row, with the team jetting off on tour on Friday, it remains to be seen whether he will join them.
