Fans have reacted to Russ Cook (aka Hardest Geezer) announcing his latest mega-run, which has been designed to coincide with Euro 2024.

The European Championships kick off on Friday, with England’s first game of the tournament taking place against Serbia on Sunday evening.

And two months after overcoming complications with visas, health scares, geopolitical issues and an armed robbery to run the entire length of Africa, Cook has announced a new challenge.

On X, formally Twitter the 27-year-old, from Worthing, West Sussex announced he was set to run from Wembley to Germany, presumably planning to arrive for England’s opening game against Serbia at Schalke's VELTINS-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.

He said: “Yes boys & girls. Absolutely buzzing to be back on the road, running to Germany to support England throughout the euros.

“Leaving Wembley now, ferocious 1s & 2s to every game. COME ON.”

Fans were quick to react to Cook’s announcement. One person on X joked: “Oh just a light jog then this time.”

A second jocularly added: “Would have been quicker to take a flight, Russ.”

A third wrote: “Absolutely love it don't you mate.”

Meanwhile, the Specsavers account said: “Best of luck running the length of approximately 3,903,448 pairs of glasses.”

Cook’s run through Africa began at South Africa's most southerly point on 22 April 2023 and finished more than 10,190 miles north in Tunisia. He raised over £1million for charity.

Before he set off, he admitted he hoped to look back at his life and have no regrets, admitting he had previously struggled with mental health, gambling and drinking.
