The England squad have reportedly already made their decisions on new manager Lee Carsley.

Carsley took over as interim England manager in August after Gareth Southgate departed the role at the end of Euro 2024, following eight years in the position.

His first match since taking on the job will take place this weekend as the Three Lions travel to Dublin's Aviva Stadium to face Ireland in their Nations League opener.

But ahead of the game, the England team have reportedly already made their mind up regarding their new boss.

A new report from The Telegraph, states that before there is already a growing sentiment within the England camp that Carsley should be offered the role of manager on a permanent basis.

The 50-year-old led the Young Lions to glory in the 2021 Under-21 Euros, and is held in high regard by the players that worked under him during the tournament.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, who was a surprise inclusion in Carsley's first England squad, praised the manager, describing him as the best man to lead the team forward.

“Tactically, you only have to look at our performances at the Euros last year. We didn’t concede a goal, so that says a lot,” Gibbs-White said.

“It’s not just about going forward with the ball and how we play but also how defensively solid we were. I believe he is the perfect guy for this job. Tactically, he is very, very good and his man-management skills are very good as well.”

He added: “I believe he is the right manager for the team and, hopefully, we can put our trust back in him and respect back in him for the games coming up."

The 24-year-old year-old also provided some insight into what it is like to play under Carsley and who he is as a person.

Gibbs-White continued: “He is a great man-manager, always asking how you are as a person, how your family is, he shows that he really cares about his players and that is the best way to get the best out of the players, showing an interest in their life and how they are as a person,” Gibbs-White added . “And I think Lee is great at that, give him time in training and in games and you will really see him bring the best out of the players in this camp.”
