England fans have noticed something hilarious about their squad photo for this year's World Cup.

Gareth Southgate's side will fly out to Qatar in the next few days ahead of their Group B opener against Iran on November 21.

The final 26-man posed for a photo at St. George's Park on Monday while modelling new Marks and Spencers team gear.

Southgate sat in the middle with his players surrounding him, but supporters picked up on one player in particular.

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison stood on the far left of the picture behind Arsenal defender Benjamin White and Borussia Dortmund teenager Jude Bellingham.

He's the only one who looks slightly further away from his teammates, with Chelsea's Mason Mount and Everton centre-back Conor Coady close on the opposite side.

Shortly after the image hit Twitter, Maddison's standing position was compared to Ashley Cole's in THAT Roma picture from 2014.

In case you don't remember, former Three Lions full-back Cole was awkwardly far away from everybody else in a pre-season photo.

Supporters have reacted to the image, all saying the exact same thing.

One person put: "Maddison is giving me proper Ashley Cole vibes."

Another said: "Everyone else sees it as well don't they?"

A third tweeted: "If he's done that on purpose then fair play."

While someone added: "A wonderful homage."

Maddison looked to be a doubt for the World Cup after going off with an injury in the first half Leicester's 2-0 win over West Ham United on Saturday.

The 25-year-old, who opened the scoring at the London Stadium, later confirmed it was a precaution and he'd be joining up with the other players this week.

England's squad numbers were also confirmed on Monday. Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has been handed the number one shirt, while Manchester City club-record signing Jack Grealish and Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling have the prestigious number seven and 10.

Captain Harry Kane will once again be number nine as he looks for a second World Cup Golden Boot.

The Tottenham Hotspur forward scored six goals in Russia four years ago to help England to the semi-finals.
