Cristiano Ronaldo’s Sister Provides Cryptic Update As Transfer Saga Drags On

Ronaldo asked to leave Manchester United earlier this month.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s sister provided a cryptic response after being asked if the Manchester United legend will stay at the club.

The Portuguese international told the Old Trafford club of his desire to seek a move away earlier in the month. And now, his future is yet to be resolved as the transfer saga rumbles on.

Ronaldo’s sister, Katia Aveiro was asked on Instagram about her brother’s future.

One user asked Katia: “Cristiano will stay(in) Manchester?”

To which she replied: “I suggest some glasses... a span of brain or else learn to read haaa and notion.”

It isn’t the clearest of answers but the general direction of that cagey response could be to tell fans to read and see clearly that Ronaldo’s intentions are to leave United.

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford last summer in a £20 million deal from Juventus. However, his return has failed to push the team on as United stumbled to a sixth placed finish after collecting their worst points tally in the Premier League era.

After their failure to secure a place in the Champions League, Ronaldo handed in a transfer request as he would like to spend the last few years of his career challenging for the top honours, something he feels he will not be able to do if he stayed with the Red Devils.

Despite his team’s poor performances, Ronaldo had a decent season personally. He finished as the club’s top scorer after netting 24 goals. His tally of 18 Premier League goals was only bettered by joint Golden Boot winner Son Heung Min and Mohamed Salah. The Portuguese also earned himself a place in the PFA Team of the Year.

Away from Ronaldo, new boss Erik ten Hag and his United squad are currently in Thailand’s capital, Bangkok as their pre season tour gets underway.

United fans will have their first chance of seeing if the players have taken on the Dutchman’s instructions as they are due to face arch rivals, Liverpool in a friendly match on Tuesday.

Ten Hag is still looking to add to his squad as the season fast approaches. United have only confirmed one new signing so far in the transfer window in the shape of defender Tyrell Malacia. A deal for Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen is close, and the club remain interested in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Ajax duo Lisandro Martinez and Antony.
