Ronaldo missed out on Portugal's previous match but was back in form as they battered Switzerland in a Nations League game.

We're used to the sight of Cristiano Ronaldo scoring goals, but that doesn't stop it being an emotional occasion for his mum, as she proved on Sunday night.

Officially, no man has scored more goals in their career than Ronaldo, with the Manchester United forward drawing level with previous record holder Josef Bican and overtaking him on the same day back in March.

The 37-year-old struck three times against Tottenham Hotspur to bring up his 806th goal for his clubs and country in his 20 year career, to date.

Internationally he broke the men's record back in September last year and, despite missing out on Portugal's game with Spain last week, he shows no signs of slowing down.

On Sunday, Portugal faced Switzerland in the Nations League, Ronaldo scored twice in four first half minutes, as they ran out 4-0 winners.

Whilst seeing him score is hardly new, it still left his mum in tears in the stands, which is pretty sweet really, still getting emotional after all those goals she's undoubtedly seen.

Dolores was no doubt made even more emotional than usual as he dedicated his brace to his mum by pointing to her during his celebration.

And in fairness to her, she doesn't get to see him play that often and it's down to the fact that she does get very emotional when he's on the pitch.

On a couple of occasions the former Real Madrid forward has revealed that he doesn't let his dear old mum watch his 'big' games as he worries for her health.

He was partially joking, but it's also easy to see why he'd say that, considering her reaction to a couple of goals in a Nations League group game!

Despite his brace, Ronaldo's lead over Lionel Messi in the all time scorer record was cut, with the Argentina forward scoring five times.

Messi was in excellent form as the South American's beat Estonia 5-0, granted not the hardest of opponents, following on from his brilliant performance against Italy last week.
