Cristiano Ronaldo sends message as he flies to Saudi Arabia to begin new club

The star footballer appears to be on his way to the country to begin a new chapter in his life.

Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a message to Saudi Arabia as he flies to the country to begin a new chapter in his career.

The star footballer has uploaded a quick story to his Instagram page where he says he'll be seeing everyone very soon.

He ends the message with a nice, little wink and some finger guns.

Just before 2022 ended, it was revealed Ronaldo would be heading to Saudi Arabia to play for club Al Nassr after they signed a humungous deal.

According to Al Jazeera, the commitment to play with the side until 2025 is set to be worth around €200 million.

In the announcement, Ronaldo said it was an honour to put on the yellow and blue jersey.

“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia,” Ronaldo said.

“I am looking forward to joining my new team mates and together with them help the Club to achieve success.”

The club added on social media: “History in the making. This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success but inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls to be the best version of themselves. Welcome @Cristiano to your new home @AlNassrFC.”

Al Nassr Football Club President Musalli Almuammar is hopeful the signing will 'inspire our club to achieve even greater success' as well as 'inspire our league, our nation and future generations'.

Interestingly however, it appears Ronaldo could have a clause in his contract that would raise a few eyebrows.

According to Spanish news outlet Fichajes, Ronaldo would be allowed to leave Al Nassr for Premier League club Newcastle United.

For that move to happen, Eddie Howe’s side will have to first qualify for the Champions League.

If they manage to secure a place in the competition, there will be an option for Ronaldo to join Newcastle on a loan deal as they are owned by the Saudi backed public investment fund.

The Magpies have had quite a start to the 22/23 season, they are currently basking in great form as they find themselves third in the Premier League table, only two points behind reigning champions Manchester City.

However, it will take a huge effort for them to fend off the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Chelsea for a place in the top four.
