Gary Neville makes damning prediction about Man United if they sell Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo leaving Man United could spell trouble for the club.

Gary Neville believes Manchester United will finish in the BOTTOM HALF of the Premier League table if they get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is eager to leave Old Trafford this summer in a bid to play in the Champions League.

But with transfer deadline day approaching, the 37-year-old appears to be no closer to securing a move away from the Red Devils.

Ronaldo was restored to the starting XI against Brentford last weekend, but failed to make an impact as his side lost 4-0.

Man United are rooted to the bottom of the league as the superstar forward's future remains clouded with uncertainty.

The idea of selling Ronaldo won't bode well for Man United, according to former club captain Neville who reckons they'll finish in the bottom half of the table if they sell him.

On Monday Night Football, he said: "United are damned if they do, damned if they don't on Ronaldo.

"It seemed like the best thing was to facilitate a move away.

"Now, if they lose him, there is NO goalscoring left."

Neville added: "If they don't bring players in, or players don't perform, and Ronaldo leaves, I think they can finish bottom half of the Premier League.

"They are absolutely demoralised and shot to pieces.

"Erik ten Hag in pre season got them to a confident level. But they have gone back to default.

"To not got the players he wanted is an absolute shocker."

Neville continued by looking ahead to Man United's next league match against Liverpool, calling for Ten Hag to be 'pragmatic'.

He said: "United will ride the wave and get through this season but will have to live through the rockiest times since getting relegated 40 years ago.

"Stick with what you're doing [vs Liverpool] and hope the results come.

"However, he has to be pragmatic next Monday, that's about physicality and picking the players he trusts the most to get a result."
