Christian Eriksen received a standing ovation as he made his first appearance since suffering a cardiac arrest eight months ago at Euro 2020.

Eriksen got a rousing reception from both sets of supporters when he was introduced to Brentford vs. Newcastle United in the 52nd minute.

Newcastle players even showed their respect, applauding the Danish midfielder onto the pitch.

Eriksen signed a six-month deal at Brentford after he left Inter Milan in December by mutual consent.

The star midfielder was suspended by the Italian medical authority from playing in Serie A due to a rule prohibiting the use of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device he has had fitted.

He had the ICD fitted after collapsing during Denmark's Euro 2020 game against Finland last year.

Eriksen, though, was unable to inspire Brentford to victory as Newcastle secured all three points in a 2-0 victory.
