Fan 'proves' that the Champions League is 'scripted' and that Man City are going to win it

A Manchester City fan has composed a thread on Twitter that appears to suggest Pep Guardiola's side are set to win the Champions League.

A fan has claimed to have proved that Manchester City are destined to win the Champions League this season.

City are on their hunt for a historic treble this season, with the Premier League already secured and an FA Cup and Champions League final booked in for the start of June.

The club have never won the Champions League, but are surely on the verge of doing so, and go into the final as heavy favourites to claim a victory over Inter Milan.

One fan, however, claims the game has already been decided, and has explained why.

Twitter user @Super_JG10 composed a thread on their Twitter account containing 15 posts in an attempt to explain why City will lift the trophy.

Some theories revolved around the fact City haven't won the competition. The first post reads: "Every time Argentina have won the World Cup (1978, 1986 and 2022), a team that has never won the UCL wins their first UCL. Man City have never won the Champions League and they are in the final," while the third says: "The last time Fulham finshed above Chelsea was in 1983. That year, a team that has never won the Champions League (Hamburger SV), won their first ever Champions League, beating an Italian team in the final. Man City play an Italian team in the final."

Other theories are slightly more far-fetched, but make sense. For example, the second post says: "Every team that has won the Champions League this century, has either a Spaniard or a Brazilian in their first team squad. Inter Milan has neither, Man City has both."

We won't list every post, but a favourite is: "Every time a Manchester United keeper has won the PL Golden Glove (‘09, ‘18 & ‘23), the team that eliminated Bayern Munich from the UCL, has gone on to win the Champions League. De Gea has won the golden glove and Man City eliminated Bayern."

It might be far-fetched, but a lot of research has gone into the thread. Coincidences do happen, and it does appear there are a fair few this year.

Maybe Guardiola and Co can take some inspiration from the posts as they bid to lift the trophy on June 10, They still have two Premier League games and an FA Cup final to play before that, but all eyes are on June 10 as they look to finally get their hands on the Champions League.
