Fede Valverde's girlfriend Mina Bonino urged Casemiro to turn down Manchester United's advances and stay at Real Madrid in a funny WhatsApp message.

The Brazilian midfielder, who lifted five Champions League trophies during a nine-year stint in Madrid, is expected to join Erik ten Hag's side after the Reds reached an agreement in principle for his transfer.

Casemiro will pen a four-year contract at United worth £350,000-a-week, according to The Sun, who suggest he will become the third highest paid player at Old Trafford.

The 30-year-old has already penned a goodbye message to Los Blancos and their supporters on Instagram.

"I lived the most wonderful story," he wrote. "I hope to return someday. It will always be my home."

And on Friday night, midfield duo Luka Modric and Toni Kroos wrote emotional farewell letters to the Brazilian as he prepares to embark on a new challenge.

Fede Valverde's girlfriend, meanwhile, had a very different approach to his imminent departure.

In what is clearly a tongue-in-cheek gesture, Mina Bonino made a desperate plea to Casemiro with a cheeky expletive message on WhatsApp.

She wrote: "Gil de mierda! No te vayas," which translates to "don't leave, you s**t b*****d," in Spanish, according to MARCA.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed Casemiro's departure in his press conference on Friday and while doing so, he appeared to aim a dig at 'struggling' Manchester United.

After revealing the 30-year-old had said goodbye to his Real teammates, he then admitted he couldn't personally understand why Casemiro was keen to leave the La Liga and Champions League holders for a 'struggling side'.

In quotes carried by the Mirror, Ancelotti explained: "Casemiro wants to try a new challenge, and I and the club understand that.

"After all, he's done for this club, we need to respect his decision. Casemiro is leaving but we have a lot of resources to replace him.

"There is no turning back, Casemiro has decided to try a new challenge. We want to wish him the very best. Just yesterday I realised that Casemiro is leaving, but our plans don't change - we'll compete for everything with or without Casemiro."

Ancelotti added: "I think Casemiro has been a key player for us, he was important to [Toni] Kroos and [Luka] Modric - the combination was key to success.

"Casemiro's teammates understand his decision, they respect it - it was his will to try a new challenge and we have to accept it. I can't reply to why Casemiro traded European Champions for a struggling side, it's his personal decision."
