Sadio Mane produced shocking miss during Bayern Munich’s 27-0 friendly win

Sadio Mane produced shocking miss during Bayern Munich’s 27-0 friendly win

Sadio Mane left Liverpool for Bayern Munich last summer

Sadio Mane had a moment to forget during Bayern Munich’s 27-0 pre-season friendly win against FC Rottach-Egern.

Thomas Tuchel’s men are preparing for the new season with a training camp in Tegernsee and were up against non-league side Rottach-Egern.

Bayern were 18-0 up after 45 minutes and added nine more goals in the second half.

The likes of Jamal Musiala, Serg Gnabry, Marcel Sabitzer and Mathys Tel all scored a hat-trick during the rout.

Despite finding the back of the net in the 90th minute, Mane was criticised by fans for missing a glorious chance in the 73rd minute.

As the ball was played across the penalty area, Mane was unmarked as he ran onto the ball.

However, the 31-year-old somehow managed to miss the target as his shot went well wide of the goal.

Fans were quick to react on social media.

One said: “Ladies & Gentlemen this is Sadio Mané.”

Another tweeted: “We will be lucky if we sell him for 10mn.”

A third fan added: “It's unbelievable to think he was top 2 last year.”

Someone else wrote: “How has Bayern managed to change Mane like this?”

Whilst a fifth commented: “Sadio Mané is so finished It’s not even funny anymore.”

After six trophy-laden years at Anfield, Mane left Liverpool for Bayern in the summer of 2022.

However, his first season with the German Bundesliga giants was a huge disappointment as he struggled to find his best form.

Throughout the season, Mane was hampered by multiple injury issues, including a knee injury that ruled him out of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Last season, he only managed 12 goals and six assists in 38 matches across all competitions.

Ahead of the new campaign, Mane has been linked with a move away from Bavaria and is reportedly attracting interest from Saudi Arabia.

Speaking about Mane, Bayern boss Tuchel said: “He fell short of expectations. The competition is extremely high, so the starting position is not easy for him.

“The player knows that too, he knows my opinion and the opinion of the club.”
