Eric Dier mocked for 'trying to flex his Audi Cup win' at Bayern Munich's training ground

Eric Dier mocked for 'trying to flex his Audi Cup win' at Bayern Munich's training ground

Eric Dier has been panned after bringing up winning the Audi Cup at Bayern Munich.

New Bayern Munich signing Eric Dier has been rinsed online for "trying to flex his Audi Cup" win.

Dier has signed for the Bavarians on loan deal until the end of the season, though the club have the option for another year if the move goes well.

The England international joins long-time teammate Harry Kane at Bayern but he has been at the Allianz Arena and Sabener Strasse training ground before.

In a video documenting his first moments as a Bayern player, Dier was asked if it was his "first time here".

Dier then informed the individual that he had actually been before for the Audi Cup.

Back in 2019, Spurs won the pre-season competition by beating both Real Madrid and Bayern - winning the latter on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

Spurs haven't won a major trophy since the League Cup in 2008 and Dier's only medals with the club are runners up ones.

Yet the former Sporting CP player was very proud to bring up the Audi Cup, which was actually lifted by Moussa Sissoko.

Dier said: "I think for the Audi Cup, a long time [ago] - maybe 2016, 2017."

But naturally Dier received a whole lot of stick online for mentioning the Audi Cup competition after joining Germany's most successful club.

One user said: "Take the man out of Tottenham, can’t take the Tottenham out of the man."

A second wrote: "Why did bro say Audi cup as if people know what that is."

A third added: "AUDI CUP CHAMPIONS YOU’LL NEVER SING THAT."

A fourth said: "It was 2019/20 ffs. It’s the only thing he won with us surely he’d remember kmt."

Dier, who is also being mocked for his new accent, is likely to make his debut for the club against Werder Bremen on 21 January.
