Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes was overcome with emotion when he found out about his call-up to Brazil's 26-man World Cup squad.

The 24-year-old midfielder, who has been a nothing short of a revelation since his highly-anticipated £40m move from Lyon in January, is one of Europe's most in-form players at present.

As well as being the creative outlet and engine room in Eddie Howe's Newcastle team, the midfielder has produced that same drive and determination in a Brazil shirt.

And he was rewarded with a place in Tite's squad for this winter's tournament in Qatar.

Moments after the announcement was made on Monday afternoon, footage emerged of Guimaraes reacting to the news.

Surrounded by his friends and family as he held his newborn baby son, Matteo, the talented midfielder waited in anticipated as the announcement was made on TV.

And shortly after Chelsea defender Thiago Silva was called out, Guimaraes' name rang around his living room and celebrations soon followed.

You can watch footage of that wonderful moment below.

Guimaraes, who was recently named the best outfield player outside the Premier League big six by SPORTbible's audience, has been instrumental in Newcastle's season thus far.

And one of his best performance came last month in a Premier League clash against Spurs.

In fact, it emerged after the final whistle that the Brazilian had just two hours sleep before his masterclass against Antonio Conte's side.

An exhausted Guimaraes gave an insight into his week by posting a picture of his new baby son, Matteo.

"This is for you guys," he wrote on Twitter. "Two days without sleep could be at home but I always wanted to be here with you! Thanks for the support and a kiss from Matteo to you!! He is Brazilian Geordie."

To the surprise of many, including manager Eddie Howe, the 24-year-old had gone two days without sleep in preparation for the Spurs game.

"He's kept that quiet from me," Howe smiled after the full-time whistle. "I knew about one night but not about two! It wouldn't have changed my decision as he's so pivotal to what we do. He's given his heart and soul to club. It was one of his best performances."
