"Never do this again" - Fans were furious with innovative Sky Sports coverage during Brentford vs Bournemouth

Supporters online didn't enjoy it.

Football fans were furious with one of Sky Sports' newest innovations during Brentford's 2-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday evening.

The Bees moved up to eighth in the Premier League and made it seven games unbeaten, thanks to goals from Ivan Toney and Mathias Jensen.

Toney put Brentford ahead in the first half from the penalty spot after being hauled down by Cherries defender Marcos Senesi.

He made no mistake from 12 yards out, taking his Premier League spot-kick tally to an astonishing nine in nine.

Brentford went into the break 1-0 up and Sky Sports decided to interview captain Christian Norgaard seconds before he went down the Gtech Community Stadium tunnel.

Toney's ability from the spot was the main point of discussion, with the Denmark international stating: "Yeah it's very important, especially on a penalty.

"It's difficult circumstances, but I think after the first 10 or 15 minutes it's been us that's been the best team. No [I had no doubts], never!"

Sky Sports introduced halftime interviews at the start of this season to offer viewers greater insight into what's happening on the pitch.

The broadcaster's latest tactic to move ahead of competitors BT Sport and Amazon Prime Video haven't gone down well online however.

One person said: "Nobody wants a halftime interview. Turn it in."

Another commented: "Sure that’s the last thing the players want to do after running around for 45 mins."

A third tweeted: "Why are sky sports trying so hard to Americanise the game? On the pitch analysis, halftime interviews…what’s next? Players mic’d up? All-star game?"

While someone put: "Really starting to dislike Sky Sports' coverage of games."

Jensen added a second for Thomas Frank's side with 15 minutes to go. They've now leapfrogged Chelsea and Liverpool in the table, sitting six points behind Newcastle United in fourth.

Frank told Brentford's official website: “I’m very happy with the win.

"I think it was a clear win against a difficult opponent. I know they've not been on the best run, but every game in the Premier League is so, so difficult.

"I think we defended well throughout the game, we tried to play where we could, we were good playing in behind them, but also getting it out to the sides and producing crosses.

"So we were very pleased with that. I think we gave everything in the running and in the duels, which is also important."
