BREAKING: Europa League knockout play-off draw sees Man Utd face Barcelona

BREAKING: Europa League knockout play-off draw sees Man Utd face Barcelona

The ties will be played on February 16 and 23.

The Europa League knockout play-off draw has been announced.

Manchester United will face Barcelona in the round's standout tie. United finished second in Group E, meaning they have to face a third-placed team from this season's Champions League.

Barcelona failed to qualify from their Champions League group for a second time in as many years.

It means United and Barcelona will square off in European competition for the first time since 2019.

In addition, it's a repeat of the 2009 and 2011 Champions League finals which were won by Barcelona.

Juventus also find themselves in the Europa League for the first time since 2014 after an underwhelming showing in the Champions League.

Max Allegri's side needed results to go their way on the final matchday to ensure they weren't eliminated from European competition altogether.

Benfica's 6-1 win over Maccabi Haifa ensured Juventus' 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain was irrelevant.

They'll be facing Ligue 1 outfit Nantes, who finished second in their group behind Freiburg.
