Fans can’t quite believe Bolton Wanderers’ new stadium after the club announced a new five-year naming rights deal.

For many years, it was known that the Reebok Stadium was the home of Bolton when they were playing in the Premier League.

However, as the years went by, the club started to decline and drop down the English football pyramid.

Now in League One, the club’s stadium has had a few name changes, including the Macron Stadium and most recently the University of Bolton Stadium.

On Sunday, the club announced a new five-year naming rights deal with local building product manufacturer, Toughsheet. As a result, the home of Bolton will now be known as the Toughsheet Stadium.

It is safe to say the fans are not too happy with the name.

One fan said: “That is the worst name I have ever heard in my entire life.”

Another tweeted: “I hope we're getting serious money for this because this might be one of the meme-iest names you could've given it.”

A third fan added: “Oh my word that is an awful name. will forever be the reebok.”

Someone else joked: “We are one tough piece of sheet.”

Whilst a fifth added: “You just know it will always be known in future as the tough sh*t stadium which may work if we win every home game.”

According to Bolton, the deal with Toughsheet is the largest sponsorship deal in the club’s history and will see the company become a Principal Partner of the club.

Toughseet managing director, Dougi Mercer said: “As Bolton Wanderers fans, this is a dream come true and a huge moment for everyone involved in Toughsheet.

“We had spent some years feeling disillusioned with the club but since Sharon Brittan and her team have been at the helm, that feeling has dissipated. Bolton Wanderers has been transformed under her stewardship into a financially stable, true community club.”

Bolton are currently sitting in fourth place in the League One table, nine points off the automatic promotion places.
