That's according to Spanish outlet Marca who claim that the German giants are readying a bid for Frenkie de Jong.

What's more, the report adds the club have already contacted his agent ahead of a possible transfer.

De Jong is in his third season at the Camp Nou, having joined the club from Ajax in 2019 in a deal worth £74.5 million.

But he's been unable to replicate his brilliant Ajax form at Barca, with Bayern thought to be keen on offering him an escape route.

However, Bayern face stiff competition from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain as well as Premier League duo Manchester City and Chelsea, who are all thought to be interested in signing the Dutchman.

The Bundesliga side are hoping to snap him up this month, but if they fail in their pursuit - then they're expected to come knocking again in the summer.

Julian Nagelsmann has midfielders Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka, Marcel Sabitzer and Corentin Tolisso, among others, currently at his disposal ahead of potentially adding the 24-year-old to his star-studded squad.

De Jong has played 25 games in all competitions this season and scored his first goal of the campaign in his side's 1-0 win over Alaves last weekend.
