Barcelona set to axe FIVE players, then sign THREE new stars

Barcelona remain in the transfer market for new talent.

Barcelona are set to make some major, wholesale changes to their squad ahead of transfer deadline day.

The Catalan giants have splashed the cash on new talent this summer, having snapped up the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde.

They've also trimmed their squad following the sales of Philippe Coutinho and Oscar Mingueza, among others.

And it appears Xavi still has his eyes on new recruits as reports suggest he'll continue to reinforce his squad, and offload players that are deemed surplus to requirements.

According to Gerard Romero, Barca are looking to complete the signings of Marcos Alonso from Chelsea and an unnamed right-back.

Not to mention a certain player who has been tipped to join Xavi's team ahead of deadline day.

Romero, though, is yet to disclose the name or profile of the player that Barca’s sporting director Mateu Alemany is looking to acquire.

It seems a move for Manchester City's Bernardo Silva is off the table, having pursued the Portuguese ace this summer.

As for the departures, it's claimed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Sergino Dest, Martin Braithwaite, Miralem Pjanic, and Abde Ezzalzouli are all set to leave the club.

That means Frenkie de Jong looks set to remain at Barca, having been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United this summer.

Erik ten Hag had hoped to lure his former player to Old Trafford following his appointment this summer.

But he's been unable to pull off a deal for the Dutch midfielder, with the club recently signing Casemiro from Real Madrid.

Will Barca complete their signings and get rid of some of their deadwood before deadline day? Watch this space.
