Aston Villa fans baffled after spotting another Premier League club's badge on their shirt

Aston Villa fans baffled after spotting another Premier League club's badge on their shirt

You can buy the shirt on Aston Villa's official club shop website.

A fair few Aston Villa supporters have been left stumped after an Everton badge was spotted on a shirt that is currently for sale on the club's official website.

Twitter user @doc3d was one of the first people to spot the bizarre detail on Villa's online club shop.

It appears Everton's famous badge – a crest featuring a tower, two wreaths and the date of the club’s foundation – has been stitched to the bottom of the 'Iconic Defender T-Shirt - Blue Wing Teal' men's jersey.

On Monday night, he posted screenshots of the £25 item alongside the caption: "Hey @AVFCOfficial, why you selling a Villa shirt with Everton’s badge on it?"

A description of the shirt reads: "This product, which you can wear on match days or everyday, is a must have for fans of all ages. This t-shirt will allow you to proudly display your pride and your colours."

As you can imagine, the strange detail brought plenty of reaction from users on social media. One fan commented: "Digne’s been messing with the Villa shirts," while another wrote: "That’s an incredible spot."

A third asked: "I wonder how this is the case bearing in mind one team is Castore and the other is Hummel. I'm assuming that official club clothing is sourced from the same non branded manufacturers."

While a fourth said: "Once Cazoo brothers, always Cazoo brothers."

Cazoo, who are Aston Villa's current sponsors, were previously front of shirt sponsors for fellow Premier League outfit Everton until the end of last season.

It was announced in March that the online car retailer would carry on sponsoring Villa, while their agreement with the Toffees was brought to an end.

A statement from Cazoo read: "We can confirm that the Cazoo sponsorship of Everton Football Club will not continue after the end of the current season.

"The original deal was for two years and it has been a strong partnership over this period which has delivered on our objectives and we are proud to have supported the Club and raised over £75,000 for Everton in the Community during this time.

"We were unable to agree suitable terms to extend our sponsorship of Everton beyond the original two years but can confirm that we will remain the principal partner and shirt sponsor of Aston Villa Football Club next season."

Everton are currently sponsored by Stake.com after the leading casino and sports betting platform signed a multi-year agreement that is the highest value front-of-shirt deal in the club’s 144-year history.
