Arteta makes selection hint after two Arsenal players spotted in heated physical altercation

Arteta makes selection hint after two Arsenal players spotted in heated physical altercation

The Gunners boss has provided an update on the pair.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has insisted that all is well between centre-back pairing William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes after they were spotted in a heated altercation following their 1-0 win over Leicester.

The Gunners secured all three points at the King Power Stadium as they took one step closer to their first Premier League trophy for nearly 20 years.

The victory helped them draw two points clear of second-placed Manchester City with a game in hand over Pep Guardiola's men.

However, there were some unsavoury scenes upon the final whistle. Gabriel appeared to confront Saliba, with the pair seen pushing each other in frustration.

The clip went viral on social media, leaving Arsenal fans wondering if there was friction between the two.

Arteta: "They are a happy marriage"

However, Arteta has since reassured supporters, squashing rumours that there was a problem and suggesting they would start alongside each other against Everton.

The Spaniard said: "They are a happy marriage - they love playing with each other! But they are really demanding of each other, which is good. Everything is fine."

The pair have helped form the second-best defence in the league this season, as they look to extend Arsenal's gap at the top with a win over Everton on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners were beaten 1-0 at Goodison Park in February during Sean Dyche's first game in charge of the Toffees.

So, they they will be plotting their revenge at the Emirates. Whilst Dyche will be hoping to do the double over Arteta as he attempts to climb out of the relegation zone.

The Arsenal boss drew on the importance of the fans who have been louder than ever this campaign.

Arteta said: “[The fans are] going to be crucial.

“Tomorrow we expect to have the same support because, with that, we’re going to be closer to winning the game for sure.”
