"We're told..." - Journalist claims Arsenal could complete exciting double transfer in January

Arsenal could complete an exciting double transfer in January as they look to add to their squad, according to Sky Sports' Dharmesh Sheth.

Arsenal could complete an exciting double transfer in January as they look to add to their squad, according to Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta stressed that Arsenal needed to be 'active' during the window, as they look to continue what has been an excellent start to the season.

They currently sit on top of the Premier League table, and are seven points ahead of Manchester City going into tonight's clash against Newcastle.

So far, the Gunners are yet to complete a permanent deal, either incoming or outgoing, in January, although are said to have placed two bids to sign Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Evening Standard, meanwhile, claim that the Gunners will focus on other positions if they complete the signing of Mudryk, with a left-sided centre-back said to be their next target.

The club have been linked heavily with a move for Frankfurt centre-back Evan Ndicka, who is out of contract in the summer.

But Sheth has revealed that, as well as Mudryk, Arsenal could sign a different second player in January.

Sheth gives Arsenal transfer update

Speaking on Sky Sports, Sheth gave an update on the current status of the Mudryk pursuit, and that of Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix, who is said to be available for loan in January.

However, The Athletic report that the stumbling block on that particular deal is that Atletico want a total loan fee, including salary, of €21 million.

Sheth explained: "We're told negotiations are ongoing between Arsenal and Atletico over a possible loan signing of Joao Felix.

"With regard to the actual loan, it would work for both parties if they can secure the price. Potentially exciting - they're in for both Felix and Mudryk."

However, there is competition from other clubs for both players. According to The Sun, Chelsea are planning talks with Shakhtar director Darijo Srna in London this week over Mudryk, while Manchester United are said to have a keen interest in signing Felix on loan in January following the exit of Cristiano Ronaldo.
