Arsenal have 'secret weapon' to sign Mohammed Kudus from Ajax

The Gunners have a hidden trick up their sleeve.

Arsenal could have a secret weapon to help sign Ajax striker Mohammed Kudus this summer.

Kudus has emerged as a potential transfer target for Arsenal, following his eye-catching performances for the Dutch club.

The 22-year-old has scored 11 goals in the Eredivise this season, announcing himself to a number of Premier League clubs including Manchester United and Newcastle.

It is thought that Kudus, whose contract is due to expire in 2025, is eager to move away at the end of the campaign after rejecting a one-year contact extension at Ajax.

His agent, Jennifer Mendelewitsch, confirmed his desire to leave recently, stating: "I think it is best for both Ajax and Mohammed that he makes a transfer now.

"Now is the right time. He has ignored a proposal to extend his contract until the summer of 2026. What I can say is that after the World Cup and this season there is a lot of interest in Kudus," she added (quotes via Dutch publication De Telegraaf).

However, Arsenal may have the edge in the race to sign the Ghanian due to a hidden trick up their sleeve.

Arsenal could use fellow international teammate Thomas Partey to help sign Kudus, with the Gunners midfielder able to show Kudus the ropes in north London, according to Ghanaian news publication Ghana SoccerNet.

Indeed, Arsenal used a similar trick to sign Aaron Ramsdale, using England teammate Bukayo Saka to help convince the goalkeeper of a move to the Emirates.

Kudus' versatility could prove useful to Arsenal, with the player having operated as a centre-forward and a right-winger this season.

His ability to play on the right-hand side would help ease the burden on star player Saka, and provide a handy alternative to Gabriel Jesus up front.

While Kudus has also been used as a ten and an eight. With Granit Xhaka expected to leave this summer, Kudus' versatility could be essential to Arsenal's busy European campaign next season.
