One Liverpool fan’s angry Arsenal rant claims the Premier League is “rigged” in favour of the Gunners

The fan did not mince his words in viral video.

A disgruntled Liverpool fan did not hold back in a rant that went viral on social media following Arsenal’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

Mikel Arteta’s side produced one of the comebacks of the season so far as they overturned a two goal deficit to claim a vital three points in the title race and maintain their five point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Substitute Reiss Nelson bagged a 97th minute winner with a spectacular left-footed volley after second-half strikes from Thomas Partey and Ben White levelled things up for the Gunners.

Bournemouth’s Philip Billing had earlier scored the second fastest goal in Premier League history when he found the net after just 9.11 seconds. Marcos Senesi had doubled the Cherries’ lead with a powerful header shortly after the break before the Gunners began their remarkable comeback.

But while Nelson’s stoppage-time stunner sent the home section of the Emirates stadium into raptures, some rival fans took to social media to question the integrity of the Premier League this season.

Many took aim at the fact that Arsenal managed to score when the clock read 96:59, despite only six minutes of time being added on at the end of the 90 minutes.

The rules indicate that the time shown by the fourth official is the minimum, rather than the maximum, amount of time that should have been played. Referee Chris Kavanagh was therefore within his rights to add on more time to account for any additional stoppages in play.

Nevertheless, one rival fan, Jonathan Morley, recorded a video that has since gone viral ranting about how he believes the league is “rigged”.

“I am not having it. I am just not f***ing having that,” he said on the TikTok video. “Every time Arsenal need a goal, there’s about seven or eight minutes played in stoppage time.

“It was the same a couple of weeks ago against Aston Villa and then it happens again.

“The Premier League are doing everything in their power to hand this league to Arsenal and it is an absolute f***ing disgrace.

He added: “But look, Arsenal needed the refs to beat the worst team in the league at home. They’re still winning f***ing nothing.”

Some on social media, however, were quick to argue against Morley’s view, with one Twitter user writing: “Boy! don’t be a cry baby … the refs denied so many penalties for Arsenal … Give the lads some thumbs up … they earned it … both possession and attempts … and goals.”

While another added: “Arsenal should have had at least two penalties and there can be no complaints about added time. Players going down with fake injuries, taking 30 seconds to a minute every time there's a throw-in or goal kick. Added time is a MINIMUM. Don't waste time and you won't get burnt.”
