Arsenal set to receive extra funds to secure Mudryk signing with player 'close' to joining London rivals

Arsenal are set to receive extra funds in January to secure the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk after Cedric Soares was reported close to a move.

Arsenal are set to receive extra funds in January to secure the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk after Cedric Soares was reported close to a move to Fulham.

The Gunners are eager to add to their attacking options in January to consolidate their position at the top of the table.

Mikel Arteta’s side have been linked with Shakhtar Donetsk wide-man Mudryk for months, though their efforts to sign the 21-year-old could be hampered by a high transfer fee.

Shakhtar have publicly stated that they value the youngster at around €100million (£87.5million).

Arsenal are unlikely to bid anything close to the touted fee for Mudryk, and outgoings may be required to fund any deal for the Ukrainian international.

Cedric to Fulham?

One likely outgoing at Arsenal is Cedric.

According to Talksport’s Alex Crook, Fulham are close to signing the Arsenal full-back, with the 31-year-old having played just four times in all competitions this season.

While Cedric, who’s contract runs until the summer of 2024, is unlikely to command a huge transfer fee, the Gunners are likely to have more flexibility in the market by reducing their wage bill.

Mudryk to Arsenal?

Arsenal have reportedly opened talks with Shakhtar Donetsk over a deal for Mudryk, having tracked the player since the summer.

However the winger has plenty of admirers, with Real Madrid and Paris Saint-German, said to also be interested.

Mudryk is open to the prospect of playing for Arsenal having publicly revealed his admiration for the Gunners in a recent interview.

The 21-year-old said, as per the Evening Standard: “I think every guy dreams about the Premier League. Arsenal is a very good team with a very good coach. I like the way they play. It would be hard to say no [to Arsenal].”
