Romano confirms Arsenal star will make a decision over his future at the end of the season

His future is up in the air.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Kieran Tierney will make a decision on his Arsenal future at the end of the season.

The 25-year-old defender has fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates this campaign, having started just four Premier league games.

Despite playing a crucial role in Mikel Arteta's plans last season, the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City has had a negative impact on Tierney's minutes.

The Ukrainian has established himself as Arteta's first choice left-back this term, recently scoring his first Premier League goal during Arsenal's 4-2 win over Aston Villa.

Romano provides Tierney transfer update

Transfer guru Romano told CaughtOffside that "Kieran Tierney will decide his future at the end of the season," despite having another three years left on his contract.

Meanwhile, Nuno Tavares, who is currently out on loan at Marseille will also evaluate his long-term future at the end of the season.

Romano said of Tavares: "Arsenal want him to be 100% focused on the second part of the season, they’re not in talks with any club now."

Tierney linked with Newcastle move

According to FootballInsider, Tierney's lack of game time has attracted interest from Newcastle, with the north-east club said to be 'closely monitoring' the defender.

The report also states that Eddie Howe is in the market for a left-back this summer, and that Tierney is on their radar.

The Scotland international, reportedly valued at around £26million, was also the subject of interest from Italy, with both Juventus and Inter Milan said to be keen on signing him in January.

However, it is suspected that Tierney may want to stay closer to his home of Glasgow.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website last month, Tierney discussed the challenges of living away from home.

He stated: “It’s not been difficult to stay in touch, but the hardest part is you don’t see each other every day."
