Arsenal In 'Advanced Talks' To Sign Juventus Star On Loan

Arsenal are well into negotiations with Juventus and are said to be confident of pulling off the deal.

Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo on loan.

The Gunners are looking to strengthen their midfield options in the January window and had reportedly been high on Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

However, with it looking tough to strike a deal, the club are now prioritising a move for Brazilian international Arthur.

As per RMC Sport, Arsenal and Juventus are in negotiations over a loan move.

A few days ago, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano had reported that Arthur had been discussed from an Arsenal perspective but no official talks had taken place.

Things appear to have accelerated though and it looks like a temporary transfer could be done.

Arthur has played just 11 times in all competitions for Juventus this season, including 270 minutes in Serie A.

He signed for the Bianconeri in a stunning swap deal that saw Miralem Pjanic head to Barcelona in September 2020.

The cost of the transfer totalled €76 million, with the potential for another €6 million in bonuses - though neither player has made a particularly strong impact at the club they joined.

Arsenal have also been linked Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, although manager Mikel Arteta is wary of the difficulties the January market poses.

"What I really want this month is that we have as many players as possible fit and healthy and that we do the best and maximum with those players," Arteta said in his pre-Liverpool presser, as per Metro.

"After we have a strategy of how we want to evolve and improve the team, and whenever that is possible we are going to try to do it.

"We all know that this market is extremely difficult."
