Arsenal hand Ethan Nwaneri record deal as Fabrizio Romano reveals contract details

Arsenal hand Ethan Nwaneri record deal as Fabrizio Romano reveals contract details

The Gunners youngster had been rumoured with a move away from the Emirates.

Arsenal have handed talented youngster Ethan Nwaneri a record-breaking deal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Nwaneri, 16, has been at the centre of an ongoing transfer saga, with Manchester City and Chelsea reportedly keen to nab the midfielder before he signed a professional contract with Arsenal.

Back in March, The Telegraph claimed that the Gunners were at 'serious risk' of losing the youngster after he became the Premier League's youngest ever player in September, coming off the bench during Arsenal's 3-0 victory against Brentford.

However, Nwaneri has decided to continue his journey in north London, a decision which will no doubt delight Under-18 manager Jack Wilshere, who labelled the Englishman "unplayable" back in December.

Just yesterday, The Athletic's David Ornstein revealed the teenager had signed scholarship forms which would see him sign a professional deal when he turns in March 2024.

And transfer expert Romano has provided some further details about the contract on the day his schoolboy registration was due to expire on June 30.

Nwaneri contract details revealed

Romano confirmed Nwaneri had signed a new record-breaking deal in a tweet which read: "Ethan Nwaneri has signed scolarship deal at Arsenal — then agreed first pro deal to be signed when he will turn 17. It’s done, exclusive news confirmed."

"Contract will be valid for 2.6 years — it’s the highest salary offer made by Arsenal for an academy player.

The Italian then added his iconic catchphrase, "here we go", to get Gunners fans really excited.

It is turning out to be quite the transfer window for Arsenal supporters who have already been treated to the signing of Kai Havertz, who made the £65 million switch from Chelsea earlier this week.

In the meantime, Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle to sign West Ham skipper Declan Rice for £105m, with Ajax defender Jurrien Timber also close to a move
