Fan sells Arsenal ‘Champions 23’ shirt for £0 after title bid collapsed against Brighton

An Arsenal shirt with ‘Champions 23’ on the back is being sold on Facebook Marketplace after the Gunners’ title bid was dented.

On Sunday, Arsenal knew they had to win against Brighton and Hove Albion in order to keep pace with Manchester City.

However, Mikel Arteta’s men crumbled under the pressure as goals from Julio Cesar Enciso, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan meant the Seagulls came away 3-0 winners.

As a result, Pep Guardiola’s men now only need two points from their last three games to clinch the Premier League title.

If City manage to get over the line, it would be their third consecutive title and their fifth triumph in six seasons, with Liverpool being the only side to have stopped them coming out on top.

A Gunners away shirt with ‘Champions 23’ was spotted being sold on Facebook Marketplace for £0.

Under the condition section, the seller jokingly put ‘full of tears’.

The listing was made at the beginning of May when Arsenal were going through a tough spell and now, it has gotten worse for Arteta and the Emirates club.

In what has been a largely positive season, Arsenal are set to finish the campaign without a single piece of silverware to show for all the good football they have produced.

After the defeat by Brighton, Arteta told Sky Sports: “I hate the feeling of letting people down when they're really expecting something. That's the biggest regret I have today.

“A week ago, I was standing here feeling proud and today we have to apologise for the performance in the second half. It was not acceptable.”

He continued: “Mathematically, it's still possible, but today it's impossible to think about it.

“We need to digest the result and the performance in the second half, understand why and have a different reaction.”
