Fabrizio Romano tells Arsenal fans to expect exciting announcement as 'verbal agreement reached'

Exciting news for Arsenal supporters.

Arsenal bounced back from their Europa League elimination to beat Crystal Palace on Sunday – and there could be more good news on the horizon for Gunners supporters.

Mikel Arteta's side moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League with a 4-1 victory over Palace at the Emirates.

Bukayo Saka scored twice and set up another to seal a comfortable win for Arsenal, who have now won their last six league matches.

Saka has been Arsenal's stand-out player again this season and has now scored 13 goals in all competitions, while also providing 10 assists.

Arsenal are keen to tie the 21-year-old down to a new long-term contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2024.

And transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has positive news over Saka's contract negotiations.

He claims the winger has already verbally agreed a new deal with the Gunners, which could be announced at any point.

Romano told CaughtOffside: "Unsurprisingly, Arsenal fans keep asking me about his contract!

"An official announcement depends on the Arsenal media team, but the verbal agreement has been reached weeks ago.

"Saka has accepted, the new deal is ready so it's up to the club to meet and sign the documents once final small details are sorted.

"But rest assured, Saka will extend."

What other deals are Arsenal working on?

Arsenal have already tied Gabriel Martinelli down to a new long-term deal until 2027 and are working on a similar contract for William Saliba, having already triggered a one-year extension clause in his contract to keep him at the club until at least 2024.

Meanwhile, the club also plans to offer midfielder Granit Xhaka a new deal in recognition of his excellent form this season.

The Switzerland international is out contract in 2024 and Romano says the club is planning to offer him a new deal, although reports of an imminent announcement are wide of the mark.

"Despite reports, talks are not advanced now," Romano tweeted last week.

"Xhaka is next in the list after Martinelli, Saka and Saliba, but the Saka deal has to be finalised and also Saliba is still in negotiations, so it will take some time before getting the Xhaka extension done.

"It will be discussed in the next months."
