Antony was absolutely scolded in scathing analysis of Man United's 7-0 obliteration against Liverpool

Antony was called out for a lazy performance in Man United's shock 7-0 hammering at the hands of Liverpool.

Manchester United winger Antony was destroyed for his abject performance in the 7-0 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool.

United were all over the place defensively, shipping SIX goals in a second half mauling at Anfield and suffering their worst defeat since 1931.

Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah all bagged braces, while Roberto Firmino added the final nail in the coffin in the 88th minute.

There were a plethora of shambolic displays from United's players, who were branded "unprofessional" by their manager Erik ten Hag.

Bruno Fernandes took a good chunk of the criticism for his poor performance and horrendous body language, with many calling for him to no longer wear the captain's armband going forward.

But on Match of the Day 2, £85 million summer signing Antony ended up getting pelters as Micah Richards claimed it was like United were playing with 10 men because of his lack of work-rate.

Diogo Dalot got no protection whatsoever on the right flank, with Andy Robertson bombing on from left-back and Antony not tracking him at all.

For the opening goal just before half-time, Antony was a passenger and as Dalot went high to press, Robertson rolled the ball in behind Fred for Gakpo to score a lovely goal.

"There was no communication between Dalot and Antony," Richards said on the BBC.

"At times, it was like they were playing with 10 men because Antony was not doing his work at all down that side.

"I don’t know if it was tactical, Antony’s positioning. I was confused at what he was doing.

"I don’t know if it was him being lazy or the manager told him to stay up for counter-attacks. Either way, it kept happening throughout the game.

‘"If I’m Dalot, I would be screaming at [Antony] to come and help me. When they lose the ball, he just walks!

"We’re talking about one of the biggest games for Man United this season… the biggest game. He was in absolute no-man’s land. I think it was him not helping out his team-mates."

Antony was making his 13th Premier League appearance and somehow lasted the full 90 minutes in the hammering.

He has scored three times but is still searching for his first assist in the top flight.

The Brazilian has been slated for his spinning skill on more than one occasion and even branded a 'YouTube footballer' for his lack of end product.

United return to action on Thursday with a Europa League round of 16 first leg against Real Betis at Old Trafford.
