Anthony Martial received a spine-tingling welcoming to Sevilla by none other than football legend Ronaldo and his reaction says it all.

Martial has completed a loan move to Sevilla from Manchester United until the end of the season.

And he was welcomed to the Spanish club by his childhood idol Ronaldo, who sent him a touching message via the big screen at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

"Hey Martial, how are you? Welcome to La Liga and Sevilla," he said.

"They're a great Spanish club and a European great as well. They have great fans. The city is great. Best of luck."

Martial grew up idolising the Brazilian forward, who himself enjoyed a spell in Spain's top flight with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

He was ultra-prolific during his time in La Liga, scoring 34 league goals for the Catalan giants and 83 league goals in 127 games for Los Blancos.

The Frenchman will be hoping to replicate his childhood hero when he features for his new team this season.

On signing for Sevilla, he said: "What convinced me to come was the contact with the sporting director [Monchi] and the head coach [Julen] Lopetegui, who showed me that they wanted me here.

"I wanted to come and play more and that’s why I’m here, to show what I can do at Sevilla.

"I know Lucas [Ocampos] and Jules [Kounde] very well and I hope I can help them. They have given me a warm welcome. I’m coming to a great club in Spain and I hope to help them with the objectives we have this season."

In the deal to take Martial on loan for the rest of the season, there's no option to buy and no loan fee, but Sevilla will cover his wages.

This season, the 26-year-old has made 11 appearances in all competitions - scoring one goal.

He'll be hoping to resurrect his career in Spain following a difficult time at Old Trafford.
