"I Was In The Dressing Room..." - Anthony Martial Addresses Cristiano Ronaldo Claims At Manchester United

Martial joined Sevilla on a short-term loan in January.

Anthony Martial has dismissed reports of Cristiano Ronaldo causing unrest in the Manchester United dressing room.

It's been a dismal season for the Red Devils on the pitch and they haven't fared much better off it, with a number of leaks emerging.

Ronaldo returned to the club last summer a number of sources suggest he is part of a dressing room divide.

Martial, who is currently on loan at La Liga outfit Sevilla, was in the United squad with Ronaldo for five months and says the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is loved at Carrington.

"Cristiano is a top professional, one of the best in the history of the game," Martial told Spanish outlet AS.

"We all love him. There are things that are said in the media that are not true. I was in that dressing room and I know what happened."

Ronaldo has scored 18 goals in all competitions during his second stint at Old Trafford, but his frustration is clear to see.

The 37-year-old regularly storms down the tunnel when results don't go United's way and he can cut a forlorn figure on the pitch.

It was a familiar situation on Tuesday evening as United crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

Renan Lodi scored the only goal of the game to give Diego Simeone's side a 2-1 victory on aggregate in their last 16 tie.

Meanwhile, Martial opted to leave United in January in search of first-team action.

Once a regular up front, the 26-year-old had been limited to just two Premier League starts this campaign.

Ronaldo's arrival and the renewal of Edinson Cavani's contract saw Martial fall down the pecking order under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer was sacked in November and replaced by interim boss Ralf Rangnick the following month, but Martial still wasn't fancied by the new regime. He's has featured six times for Sevilla, scoring once.

"I asked United if I could leave as I wanted to play," the France international continued. "Ragnick came in but I wanted to leave, so I told him so. He said if I wanted to continue, the way I was training, I was going to play.

"But I needed to find a new atmosphere, a new club. I still have a contract there, though, so I don't know what will happen when the season is over.

"I'm only on loan here until the end of this season."
