And the 19-year-old enhanced his reputation and showed his elite mentality when he spoke eloquently to BT Sport following the match.

"I think that was my first touch as well! I've dreamt of moments like this," he began via @utdreport.

Elanga added: "I told you [interviewer] at Brentford how cool and calm I am."

He also spoke about his gratitude to Rangnick.

"Whenever I get a chance for the club I want to repay the manager," he said. "I want to be the best player I can be on the pitch. I appreciate the boss."

Rangnick was full of praise for the exciting forward, hailing the youngster as a role model.

"I wish a few other players would take him [Elanga] as a role model," he told Des Kelly.

"Not because he’s [Elanga] doing everything right but he’s just enjoying himself on the pitch. I wish we would enjoy ourselves on the pitch."

Fans and critics alike loved Elanga's attitude.

Elanga post-match interview is everything I wanted to hear.

More players in that squad should take heed of his attitude, determination & appreciation.

Not only did elanga come on and score, he shows so much maturity. His interview on BT Sport has shown this. Top professional, has to start from now on.

Anthony Elanga’s attitude is exactly what United need. Brilliant interview with him on BT.

Desperate to make an impact, run, and be the best he can be. His senior teammates could learn a bit from him.

Listening to Elanga’s post match interview & reminds me that he’s a great role model for the whole team - he’s respectful, grateful, with just the right amount of ego. #ATMMUN

Elanga has three goals to his name this season after opening his Champions League goal account.

He bagged his first goal of the campaign against Brentford and scored in his side's 4-2 win over Leeds United last weekend.

The Swedish younger has played 14 games in all competitions this term having broken into the first-team last season.
