Al Hilal are in negotiations with Atletico Madrid over a move that could see Alvaro Morata become one of the world's highest paid players, according to reports.

We are just days into this summer's already-action-packed transfer window and like a number of other Saudi clubs, money-happy Al Hilal are already making some serious moves.

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is close to joining the Saudi Pro League side for a club-record £47 million, while Chelsea centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly has agreed a three-year contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Other names that continue to be linked with Al Hilal are Manchester City pair Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan, soon-to-be free agent Sergio Busquets and PSG forward Neymar.

Now, it appears the Saudi club will hand out a staggering contract worth around £40 million-per-year to Atletico Madrid and Spain striker Alvaro Morata.

That's according to the Daily Mail, who suggest Al Hilal have 'opened discussions' with the La Liga side over a deal worth £20 million.

If a deal is stuck with those contract numbers in mind, Morata will reportedly earn more than Kevin De Bruyne and Mohamed Salah.

Morata, who has just returned from international duty after helping Spain win the Nations League, scored 20 goals for club and country last season, including three goals at the World Cup in Qatar.

Gary Neville, meanwhile, has called on the Premier League to make a stand against the transfer of players to Saudi Arabia.

"The Premier League should put an instant embargo on transfers to Saudi Arabia to ensure the integrity of the game isn't being damaged," the former Manchester United defender told BBC Sport.

"Checks should be made on the appropriateness of the transactions.

"If it comes through that process, obviously transfers could open up again. But I do believe, at this moment in time, transfers should be halted until you look into the ownership structure at Chelsea and whether there are beneficial transfer dealings that are improper."

It comes after N'Golo Kante and Karim Benzema completed moves to Jeddah-based club Al Ittihad, as a number of other high-profile players, including Hakim Ziyech and Edouard Mendy, continue to be linked.
