Real Sociedad striker Alexander Sorloth was presented with a large fish after winning the club's Player of the Month award for January.

The 27-year-old Norway international, who is currently on loan at Sociedad from Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, scored three goals in seven games last month as Imanol Alguacil's side climbed up to third in La Liga.

To celebrate Sorloth's impressive form for La Real in recent weeks, the club organised a trip to BM Supermercados de Pagola – a supermarket in the Aiete neighborhood of San Sebastian.

A large group of fans got to speak to the former Crystal Palace man. But before the meet and greet began, Sorloth received a Man of the Match award from a member of staff.

Sorloth, who was also named La Liga's Player of the Month for January, looked more than happy to pose with the fish.

Believe it not, this isn't the first time a Sociedad player has been awarded such a prize. Back in September 2019, fellow Norwegian Martin Odegaard was presented with an aquatic animal after an impressive start to life in the city.

After signing on loan from Real Madrid, Odegaard scored two goals in his first four La Liga appearances and ran the show as Sociedad beat Atletico Madrid 2-0.

This time, however, Odegaard was presented with an even bigger fish at a supermarket in Donostia.

We've seen some strange awards down the years, but Nyasa Big Bullets striker Hassan Kajoke potentially wins the most bizarre after being gifted a live chicken after his Man of the Match performance against Karonga United.

Hajoke, who scored a brace in the 5-0 thrashing, looked in a state of confusion as the fan handed him the animal from a cardboard box inscribed 'Kajoke BB'.

The fan also painted red stripes on the chicken to signify the traditional colors of the Super League side.

It was a token of appreciation from the supporter, according to Malawi24.

"You just got to love a Bullets supporter." the club said on their official Facebook account. "Striker Hassan Kajoke receiving a chicken from a fan at Kamuzu Stadium on Sunday after bagging two goals in our 5-0 win over Karonga United."

This isn't the only example of bizarre Man of the Match awards going viral. In South Africa, a Mamelodi Sundowns forward received 5GB of mobile data for his performance.

While in Zimbabwe, crates of beer have been handed to MOTM winners.
