Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale was fuming with his teammates after they failed to keep a clean sheet during the Gunners’ win against Aston Villa.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side were cruising as they went 3-0 up thanks to goals from Thomas Partey, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Emile Smith Rowe. But Villa pulled one back in the 82nd minute courtesy of Jacob Ramsey, which irked Ramsdale. You can watch his reaction here, the footage contains strong language.

Despite winning the game and taking all three points, Ramsdale reacted angrily after the full time whistle as he walked back into the changing room.

After his explosive outburst, he explained the reasoning behind his anger.

He said on All or Nothing: "When you play for a big club you definitely feel it (pressure) and I’m loving it

"I'm not walking around saying I am the best in the world but I'll always have aspirations to get there.

"Where I've come from in terms of the past two seasons, I knew how hard clean sheets are to come by in this league. It's not just me trying to keep the ball out of the back of the net or my back four, it's everyone.

"For me, it's the main thing we're showing for 95 minutes we're concentrated and all working for the common goal. The Aston Villa game in the last five minutes where they scored another day that could be a 1-1 equaliser or a 2-1 and the last five or 10 minutes are a nervy ending."

This type of mentality is for sure something Arteta is crying out for as his Arsenal side have often been labelled as ‘soft’ by rival fans and pundits around the country.

Ramsdale made the move to north London last summer in a deal worth a reported £30 million from Sheffield United. The initial reactions from fans were not positive as many thought Ramsdale was too mistake prone to play for Arsenal.

But the England international proved his doubters wrong as he wrestled the number one spot away from Bernd Leno to become Arteta’s first choice goalkeeper.

In the 21/22 campaign, he made some stunning saves and kept an impressive 12 clean sheets. His excellent distribution skills are also a vital part in the way Arsenal want to play.

This week, it was confirmed that Ramsdale will wear the number one shirt for the Gunners after Leno left the club to join Fulham, the German is searching for regular minutes ahead of the World Cup, which kicks off in Qatar later on in the year.

Arsenal will kick off their Premier League campaign on Friday night as they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
