Lionel Messi should remain at Barcelona and finish his career at the club, at least according to his former manager and current Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
The Argentine's contract comes to an end at the end of the current season and speculation has been rife about his career since he declared his want to leave Barcelona in the summer of 2020.
Both Guardiola's Manchester City and French giants PSG, who faced each other in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi final last night, have been heavily linked as favourites to sign Messi.
Questioned about Messi's future, Guardiola said "I hope he can finish his career at Barca.
Advert
"Messi will not find a better home than at Barca.
"The only thing that needs to be done is to go back to the origins of what makes the club special."
Messi's contract with the Spanish club comes to an end in just two months' time, with no indication yet as to what the multi-time Ballon d'Or winner plans to do from next season.
