Manchester United reportedly held talks with Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland before the European Championships began earlier this month.
Haaland's counterpart and close friend at Dortmund, Jadon Sancho, is the Red Devils' top transfer target for the summer window - with a deal for the England international said to be close.
And now in a sensational reveal, The Sun claim that Haaland, widely regarded as one of the best strikers in world football right now, was approached by United just before the start of Euro 2020.
The 20-year-old - valued at £150m by Dortmund - had initially been shortlisted as a key target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, only for Edinson Cavani's new contract to change things.

Yet while United talked with Haaland, The Sun's report states that the Norway captain would prefer to join Spanish giants Real Madrid instead.
Both Haaland and Sancho were pivotal to Dortmund's success last season, helping the club with the DFB-Pokal trophy.
Despite Dortmund exiting the Champions League in the quarter-finals, Haaland found the back of the net a staggering 40 times across all competitions, as well as topping the scoring charts in the European contest. Impressive.
On the other hand, Sancho managed 30 goal involvements for the third season in a row - with many regarding him as one of the best young prospects in world football.

As it stands, Sancho is inching ever closer to a deal at Old Trafford, with the club confident they will land the 21-year-old after Jose Mourinho first showed interest.
With Sancho to United nearly complete, the German outfit will be sure not to let more of their rising talent exit the door - especially as interest in young prodigy Jude Bellingham rises.
United will be more than aware of how well Sancho and Haaland play together, though, and it is likely that the Red Devils will be keen on reuniting the pair, too.
