A Formula 1 insider has spotted something about Oscar Piastri that could derail his bid to win the world title ahead of Lando Norris.

So far in the 2025 season, McLaren have dominated the rest of the grid.

Currently, Australian star Piastri leads the world championship by nine points, with Norris looking to chase down his teammate.

The Brit has experienced an upturn in form, having won three out of the last four races.

Last time out, Norris produced a tyre preservation masterclass to beat Piastri to the chequered flag, cutting the gap between the pair just before the summer break.

Speaking recently, former McLaren star Juan Pablo Montoya has stated that Piastri is becoming more and more 'agitated'.

As reported by F1 Oversteer, Montoya said to AS Colombia: "Nobody guarantees that McLaren will be the best car next year. It’s a new regulation with new theories. Everything is completely new. It could be that McLaren go out and win everything, or we could get to next year and McLaren won’t make the top 10.

"The reality is that Oscar and Lando could now have their only chance to be world champion. It causes a bit of drama. They got along very well and everything, but I’m telling you, look at Oscar."

He added: "His comments are getting heated, he’s getting agitated. One [Norris] is trying to get back on track, and the other is trying to stay on the rails."

What did McLaren say about Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris?

McLaren team boss Zak Brown has previously said that Piastri and Norris will 'not properly fall out' as the fight to become F1 world champion hots up.

As reported by the BBC, the American said: "I don't think they'll properly fall out because of the communication, trust and respect we all have, and they have for each other.

"We're very fortunate to have the two personalities that we have. We love the challenge. I'm looking forward to them racing each other."

F1 will return at the end of the month with the Dutch Grand Prix, which will take place at the Circuit Zandvoort.
