Oscar Piastri suffered the ultimate humiliation during Lando Norris' Formula 1 world title celebrations.

Norris beat McLaren teammate Piastri and Red Bull's Max Verstappen to win the first F1 championship of his racing career.

That's despite finishing behind both Verstappen, who won Sunday's Abu Dhabi Grand Pix, and Piastri, who finished second.

The Brit topped the drivers' championship standings after his third-place finish in the season-ending race and delivered an emotional message on the team radio after crossing the line.

He finished just two points ahead of Verstappen, who was aiming to win his fifth F1 world title in a row.

There were celebratory scenes in the McLaren garage given their stunning season.

Norris and Piastri posed for photos with the McLaren team, with a 'Lando' sign placed in between the two drivers.

But as champagne was sprayed, the sign unintentionally hit the Australian in a moment that didn't go unnoticed among F1 fans on social media.

A second said: "The season in a nutshell," while another added: "Pretty accurate representation."

Even though Piastri came up short, he enjoyed a stellar campaign, having won seven races in 2025.

He ended up with an impressive 410 points.

Speaking after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Piastri revealed what he has learned from Norris this season.

"It's been a fun challenge, at certain points maybe it doesn't feel that fun, but it has been a really enjoyable season for both of us and I'm saying that as the person who isn't champion," he explained.

"I've learnt plenty of things along the way and I think over the last three years I've learnt things every weekend from what Lando [Norris] does, and it's nice to know it goes both ways.

"There's plenty more years to come of intense weekends and tight battles, but ultimately, I think that has made both of us better drivers and in some ways contributed to the success that both of us have his this year."

On his overall season, the 24-year-old added: "When things have been good this year, I've felt unstoppable at points and to even be able to get to that point is a pretty cool feeling.

"There has been plenty of times when that has not been the case and I think I've learnt a lot of lessons on how to deal with tough moments and adversity from different directions.

"Ultimately, I've learnt a lot about myself and I've been in championship battles in the junior categories, but in F1 you've got a little bit extra to it.

"I've learnt plenty about that this year and I think that will only help me going forward."
