Haas driver Ollie Bearman has been criticised for comments made about Yuki Tsunoda following the United States Grand Prix.

On Sunday, the 2025 Formula 1 campaign continued at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Having qualified on pole, Max Verstappen delivered a masterful performance as he took the chequered flag ahead of Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc.

Meanwhile, championship leader Oscar Piastri only managed a disappointing fifth-place finish.

As a result, with five race weekends left in the season, Piastri now only lead Norris by 14 points, with Verstappen 40 points adrift of the Australian.

Further down the grid, Haas driver Bearman finished in ninth place after an incident with Tsunoda, who came home seventh.

The incident happened on Lap 34, when Bearman was closing in on the Red Bull star.

Approaching Turn 15, Bearman tried to overtake on the inside of the corner, but Tsunoda acted quickly to shut the door.

As a result, the young Brit had to take avoiding action and span, costing him two places.

Speaking after the race, Bearman was far from happy with Tsunoda's defending.

He said: "I felt that what he did was very dangerous, against the spirit of the regulations and against the spirit of going racing actually.

"This is not how we grow up racing, this is not how we go racing at this level. It’s not the way we want to teach young kids watching how we should go racing, because you should not move in reaction to other cars, and that’s what I felt that he did.

"Although I avoided a crash, I lost two positions. It’s a big shame, and disappointing because there was a possibility of more – at least eighth, if not seventh – because clearly, I had more pace than him at that stage."

Bearman added: "But I feel that he’s been doing these desperate moves. In the Sprint, he was divebombing down the inside and the same in the main race at Turn 1.

"A lot of risk, and I probably should have left a bit more margin for that type of driving."

Reacting to Bearman's comments, one fan said: "No contact, Bearman had other chances to overtake, but chose one of the trickiest corners on this track to attempt. If he was patient, he would’ve had him at T1 or T12."

Another tweeted: "Yuki’s move was maybe a bit touch and go but there was no real contact made , Ollie could’ve waited until the main straight or the straight to the triple left handed before t19 & try the switch back."

A third fan added: "I agree Yuki's move was awkward but what was Ollie's goal dive bomb at a corner that he was never gonna overtake."

Someone else wrote: "Ridiculous, every driver fights harder to score points. Wha did you expect?"

In response, Tsunoda hit back at Bearman.

He said: "In my view, I don’t think I’ve done anything extremely wrong, and that’s it. I don't think I moved under the braking."
