Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have reacted to driving their first laps in McLaren's new car for the 2025 F1 season.

McLaren won the Constructors' Championship in 2024 for the first time in 26 years, with Norris' victory at the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix securing the title.

The Woking-based team started the season competing for podiums but quickly developed their car, and Norris picked up his first win at the Miami Grand Prix in May.

McLaren would be on the top step in five further Grands Prix that season, with Norris winning four races and Piastri winning two, including his maiden success at the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The 2025 season is expected to begin in a similar vein to how 2024 ended, with teams allowed little room for development before the new rules come in for 2026 - though there could still be several surprises.

That could mean that Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari are all fighting for victory in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix in March. Mercedes will hope to build on some encouraging progress from the 2024 season - though will do so without Lewis Hamilton, who has signed for Ferrari on a multi-year contract from 2025.

On Thursday, McLaren unveiled their 2025 challenger for the first time at Silverstone, albeit with a camouflage livery.

Both Norris and Piastri completed their first laps of the iconic British circuit in the new car - and both gave their first impressions.

Norris told McLaren's official website: "It's exciting to hop in the MCL39 for the first time and see what it can do on track, ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain.

"The camo livery is a fun one and it's great to be able to showcase something different ahead of our full livery reveal at the official F1 75 launch.

"Thank you to the entire team for their work in getting us to this point. It's shaping up to be an exciting season."

Piastri told Sky Sports: "I'm definitely going into this season with the aim and preparation of trying to challenge for the championship, and for both championships.

"We know we're going to have a lot of tough competition this year. But we proved last year that we're a team to be reckoned with and the preparation is definitely with that championship in mind.

"We'll see how we roll out at the start of the season, but everything definitely is preparing to put up a good fight for that."
