Max Verstappen's incredibly sarcastic response to post-race question about his relationship with George Russell is going viral

Verstappen and Russell were both present in the post-race press conference after finishing second and third at Albert Park.

Max Verstappen gave a sarcastic reply when asked about his relationship with George Russell following the Australian Grand Prix.

Verstappen and Russell finished in second and third place in a rain-affected Grand Prix at Albert Park, behind race-winner Lando Norris.

The Red Bull driver didn't appear confident about the pace of his car after Friday practice, telling reporters that he and his team 'need to find more speed, because we're lacking it to compete at the front'.

But a combination of the weather, strategy, a mistake from McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Verstappen's own performance meant the Dutchman brought the car home in second, and even challenged Norris for the win in the closing laps after a late-race safety car.

One of the major talking points last season was the deterioration in the relationship between Verstappen and Russell, after the former impeded the latter in qualifying for the Qatar GP and received a grid penalty.

There were verbal back-and-forths between the pair until the end of the season, and they sat on opposite sides of the room at the end of season drivers' dinner.

With three months having passed since then, the two drivers were asked whether their relationship had been repaired.

After they both looked at each other, Russell asked Verstappen: "Are you taking this one?"

The Dutchman then picked up the microphone and hilariously said, before laughing: "No, it's still shockingly bad.

"It's... yeah, it's all good. It's all good."

Russell added: "What he said."

Q: George, Max, have you two cleared the air?

When asked about his verdict on the race as a whole, Verstappen still expressed caution in regards to Red Bull's genuine pace.

He said: "I think it's good compared to the teams behind us. But if you look at the first stint, we were quite a bit off [compared to McLaren].

"As soon as the tyres started to overheat, we had no chance. McLaren just took off. So we still have a lot of work to do to fight for a win.

"But yeah, I'm happy that we are second here. It's basically one place better than we should have been. And it's 18 more points than I had last year at this race."
