Lewis Hamilton slams the media and tells them to 'stop making stuff up' as he hits back at latest Ferrari rumours

The seven-time F1 champion made the switch from Mercedes to Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season, but things have not gone as he may have liked.

Lewis Hamilton has hit back at sections of the media as reports emerged questioning Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur’s position at the manufacturer in recent days.

Hamilton, 40, joined the Scuderia earlier this year after a successful spell at Mercedes.

As things stand, the Englishman is sixth in the Drivers’ Standings behind championship hopefuls Oscar Piastri, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

Hamilton’s Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc has also endured a tough start to the season but heads into this weekend’s Montreal Grand Prix on the back of two consecutive podium finishes.

There had been some suggestions from Italian media that Vasseur has come under scrutiny after a poor start to the season, and Hamilton gave his take on the situation on Thursday.

“It’s definitely not nice to hear that there are stories like that that are out there,” Hamilton said.

“Firstly, I love working with Fred.

“Fred’s the main reason I’m in this team and got the opportunity to be here, which I’m forever grateful for. And we’re in this together. We’re working hard in the background.

“Things aren’t perfect, but for me, as I said, I’m here to work with the team, but also with Fred.

“I want Fred here. I do believe Fred is the person to take us to the top.”

Hamilton then admitted that he would not be “impressed” if a change was made.

“Ultimately, it’s nonsense what people have written, most people don’t know what’s going on in the background,” he added.

“It isn’t all easy, it’s not like it’s all the smoothest sailing in the background. We are having to make changes, and it’s a lot of work to do. Naturally, there is a lot of pressure because we want to win.

“But that’s not any part of the discussion at the moment.

“I don’t think that’s on the cards, as far as I’m aware, and that’s certainly not something that I would be supportive of."

Hamilton continued: "And then also to all the other, everyone that's writing stories of me considering not racing, I mean, I've literally only just started with Ferrari, and I'm here for several years. I'm here for the long haul. So there is no question in where my head's at and what I'm working towards achieving at this team. So, there's zero doubts, so please stop ... making up ... stuff."
